To build a robust monitoring network in the Mid-Atlantic, MACAN works with our partners to coordinate efforts to track acidification in estuarine, coastal, and ocean waters. There are a number of online resources available to view and download acidification data products in the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond.
The Mid-Atlantic Ocean Data Portal hosts a variety of mapped oceanographic data for the region, including maps of acidification monitoring sites (found under “Water Quality”).
MARACOOS OceansMap is a data visualization tool that incorporates ocean observations and predictions. Model forecasts for parameters relevant to acidification can be found in the “Biogeochemical Predictions” tab, which highlights results from the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Forecast System (CBEFS) and Copernicus.
